Maarten Hoogstraate

He has over 20 years of experience advising on corporate, financial, and regulatory matters at both local and international levels, across the energy, technology, industrial, financial, and real estate sectors. He has extensive practice in corporate law, international contracting, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, financing, and capital markets.

Experience

For nearly a decade, he worked as a lawyer at Clifford Chance’s offices in Amsterdam and London, specializing in commercial and regulatory law, advising investment funds and other clients on cross-border transactions and financing, mainly in the financial, energy, and real estate sectors.

Later, he was the Legal Director at Abengoa Group, actively participating in the internationalization process of the company’s energy, environmental, engineering, construction, and infrastructure businesses between 2009 and 2013. Subsequently, he led the creation and structuring of Atlantica Yield (now Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure), a London-based company that acquired a significant portion of Abengoa’s renewable energy and infrastructure assets. In this role, he was responsible for legal, regulatory, and corporate governance matters, actively participating in its IPO on the NASDAQ stock market.

More recently, he has been involved in numerous international technology projects, advising companies, entrepreneurs (start-ups), venture capital firms, and investment funds (equity) on corporate and regulatory law. He has also built a strong reputation in the software industry, Web 2.0, Web 3.0, blockchain, and digital assets.
